GUIDELINES FOR THE “ARTIVIST CLOSING MANIFESTO’’ GRANT APPLICATIONS

MasterPeace, Stichting art.1, Open Mind Spectrum Albania (OMSA) & ACT for SOCIETY conjointly announce the open call for “ARTIVIST CLOSING MANIFESTO” funded by the European Delegation in Albania IPA/2020/421-822.
Closing Manifesto is the closing action of the Artivist Stafete project. It is to be implemented over a three-month duration with a final 3-days of events (June 7-9, 2023) during which the project results will be showcased, the project’s outcomes will be disseminated and key stakeholders relevant to the project’s execution will be engaged.
Applicants will act as coordinators between all involved parties (project team, artists/activists (artivists), venues and stakeholders), as well as being responsible for the delivery of the final result and respective communication and dissemination actions.
The action must be implemented between 1st MARCH – 15TH JUNE
Final reporting: 30th JUNE
Applicants may apply for a maximum of €34,000 (including all costs)

Open Call – Pogradec Project Cycle
MasterPeace and Stichting art.1, along with their Albanian partners Open Mind Spectrum Albania (OMSA) and ACT for SOCIETY Center, conjointly announce the open call for the hosting of the Pogradec cycle, as part of the Artvist Stafetë project, funded by the European Union IPA/2020/421-822.
The project is a creative and innovative alliance that empowers Albanian civil society organisations and young people in their path to change and create social awareness on human rights, diversity and gender equality through the arts. Artivist Stafëte aims to make a significant contribution to the understanding of youth of human rights and democratic EU principles, within Albania’s EU membership accession.

The call will remain open until JULY 29TH 2022. Through the sub-grant scheme, the project will finance small-medium-sized projects, according to relevant thematic fields.
MasterPeace aims to award one project, the following amount:
The maximum amount of financial support EUR 15,000
Applications must be submitted in English.
All activities within the action are therefore geared towards strengthening the CSO sector by:
1) granting it theoretical/practical skills in cross-cultural project management, thus facilitating collaboration and best practice exchange with prospective partners in the EU.
2) Granting practical skills in soft skill methodologies (podcast, film, storytelling, artivism ), related to creative expression and communication, thus facilitating actors in the field to bypass censorship and infiltrate the mainstream narrative, in turn increasing democratic representation.
3) The cycle will host a series of activities during the duration 3 months which includes:
– Hosting training: on four methodologies (podcast, filmmaking, activism and Walls of Connection)
– Creating a safe open space as a temporary (one month) creative hub as a physical space for participants to create their artistic productions.
– Creating different cultural presentations that showcase the artistic work of participants which includes (Film Festival, Femme Salons (TEDx-styled talks), studio-recording of podcast, Walls of Connection, and hackathons).
– Visibility actions, which include campaigning and (social) media presence.
Who can apply?
All civil society organizations, organizations in the creative scene, and grassroots initiatives that operates in Pogradec Region or has previously implemented similar projects in the region are welcome to apply.
Organizations with experience in activism and minority advocacy, organizations with experience in running cultural spaces and hosting cultural events are strongly encouraged to apply.

OPEN CALL FOR MINI-GRANTS/ ElBASAN
ACT for SOCIETY, MasterPeace, Stichting art.1, and OMSA conjointly announce the open call for mini-grants for young people, individuals, and activists in Elbasan, as part of the Artivist Stafetë project, funded by the European Delegation in Albania (IPA/2020/421-822). Through the inclusion of the ‘mini grants’ scheme, we will enable young activists and artists to work on their art advocacy projects and voice their ideas and stories in a creative way.
What is the call open for?
This open call for Mini-Grants is announced under the Artivist Stafetë project that focuses on art and the self-expression of youth through film, podcast, and storytelling events related to young females and LGBTQ+ youth. Young people, individuals, and/or organizations working in the civil society sector from ELBASAN are invited to apply.
We are looking for young filmmakers, artists, activists, and those who want to express themselves through artivism.
You can apply for the following grants:

Higher encouragement to apply in the Storytelling and Podcast categories
Applicants do not have to have prior experience in working with the LGBTI+ young people (18-30) women in difficult economic situations, however, they must demonstrate a very strong willingness to start working on LGBTI+, young people (18-30), and women in difficult economic situations related issues.

Minimum: 18 000 EUR
Maximum: 20,000 EUR

Open call announcement
MasterPeace, Stichting art.1, ACT for SOCIETY and OMSA conjointly announce the open call for mini grants for young people, individual and activists in Durrës, as part of the Artvist Stafetë project, funded by the European Delegation in Albania (IPA/2020/421-822). Through inclusion of ‘mini grants’ scheme we will enable young activists and artists to work on their art advocacy projects and to voice their ideas and stories in a creative way.
The foreseen impacts are to offer more opportunities for youth to express themselves through arts and equip them with artistic tools. The mini grant program increases stand-alone opportunities and networking opportunities of participants and will hence lead to more outputs to be presented at Tirana is burning film festivals, and exciting hackathons where civil society and youth meet in energizing events, for inclusion and improvement of the lives of LGBTI community in Albania, for awareness raising among different youth and professionals, for LGBTI short films, podcast, exhibition, storytelling performances, and to support young individuals and activists who are eager to improve the Albanian social context.
What is the open call?

The amount of funding made available to implement a project under this Open Call for awareness raising on gender equality and/or LGBTI rights mini-grants vary between € 500 – € 1500 depending on the art form.
Criteria
Your film, presentation, podcast should be about: human rights of LGBTI People, gender equality and Human Rights in general.

Short Film (mini-grant up until € 1500,-)

The film should be between 10-20 min.

The film should have English subtitled;
-
The winner of the grant needs to hand in a letter of consent of people featured in the film;

The winner of the grant grants project leaders the right to screen the film in Albania and abroad both online and offline;
-
The winner of the grant agrees that their short film will be distributed on the online hub of the project for wider dissemination;
-
The winner of the grant is responsible for taking care of music rights;
-
The winner of the grant will comply with the Code of Conduct of the project;
-
The winner of the grant and Project leaders are shared rightholder of the final product;
-
The winner of the grant will include logos of project and project partners on the credit list;
-
The film will be completed within 3 months after the signing of the contract;

Storytelling / Femme Salon Performance (mini-grant up until € 750,-)

The storytelling performance should be between 15-30 min.

The storytelling performance can be made in Albanian or English language;

Overall aims of the open call for mini grants are to:

Raise awareness among different groups of young people, of individuals, of professionals and service providers on active citizenship for LGBTI+ ,young people and women in difficult situation and gender-sensitive approaches;

Strengthen and empower young LGBT activists from different regions of Albania;

Raise awareness on LGBTI issues among the general population through art (eg: through cultural activities/events/campaigns/publications etc.);

Strengthen the cooperation between young potential activists and civil society organizations outside of Durres;

Priority will be given to young people and individuals, but also to individuals and/or organizations which work outside of Durres, and for projects that focus on the human rights of the LGBTI+People, marginalized young people (18-30 years old) and women in difficult economic situation.

Artivists Stafete is run by 2 NGO’s from Albania and 2 from The Netherlands. Open Mind Spectrum Albania (OMSA) is an Albanian non-governmental organization established in 2013 focusing on community work and advocacy for the LGBTIQ+ communities of Albania. With an established presence in over 40 countries around the world, Dutch organization MasterPeace works with three core activities, all of which aim towards a sustainable future with less conflict: 1) Mobilize, inspire and connect young local talents via music, art and play; 2) Organize dialogue and bring all local stakeholders together; 3) Create perspective through leadership trainings, capacity-building programs and starting up social enterprises..
Based in Amsterdam, Stichting art. 1 is dedicated to the visibilization and inclusion of minorities through the arts. By providing trainings in non-formal methodologies, the organisation seeks to provide tools and channels for sidelined voices to join mainstream narratives and democratic participation.
Applicants do not have to have prior experience in working with the LGBTI+,,+,young people (18-30) women in difficult economic situations community, however, they must demonstrate a very strong willingness to start working on LGBTI+,young people (18-30) and women in difficult economic situations related issues.

Open Call – Elbasan Project Cycle
MasterPeace and Stichting art.1, along with their Albanian partners Open Mind Spectrum Albania (OMSA) and ACT for SOCIETY Center, conjointly announce the open call for the hosting of the Elbasan cycle, as part of the Artvist Stafetë project, funded by the European Union IPA/2020/421-822.
The project is a creative and innovative alliance that empowers Albanian civil society organisations and young people in their path to change and create social awareness on human rights, diversity and gender equality through the arts. Artivist Stafëte aims to make a significant contribution to the understanding of youth of human rights and democratic EU principles, within Albania’s EU membership accession.

The call will remain open until November 19th , 2021. Through the sub-grant scheme, the project will finance small-medium-sized projects, according to relevant thematic fields.
MasterPeace aims to award one project, which must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
Minimum: 18 000 EUR
Maximum: 20,000 EUR

Applications must be submitted in English.
All activities within the action are therefore geared towards strengthening the CSO sector by:
1) granting it theoretical/practical skills in cross-cultural project management, thus facilitating collaboration and best practice exchange with prospective partners in the EU.
2) Granting practical skills in soft skill methodologies (podcast, film, storytelling, artivism ), related to creative expression and communication, thus facilitating actors in the field to bypass censorship and infiltrate the mainstream narrative, in turn increasing democratic representation.
3) The cycle will host a series of activities during the duration 3 months which includes:
– Hosting training: on four methodologies (podcast, filmmaking, activism and Walls of Connection)
– Creating a safe open space as a temporary (one month) creative hub as a physical space for participants to create their artistic productions.
– Creating different cultural presentations that showcase the artistic work of participants which includes (Film Festival, Femme Salons (TEDx-styled talks), studio-recording of podcast, Walls of Connection, and hackathons).
– Visibility actions, which include campaigning and (social) media presence.
This Call for Application will be submitted later on also in other Regions: Diber, Vlora, Korce, Pogradec and Berat in the upcoming period.
Who can apply?
All civil society organizations, organizations in the creative scene, and grassroots initiatives that operates in Elbasan Region or has previously implemented similar projects in the region are welcome to apply.
Organizations with experience in activism and minority advocacy, organizations with experience in running cultural spaces and hosting cultural events are strongly encouraged to apply.

Open Call: Website & Mobile app
“Artivist Stafëte” is a project funded under the grant for Support to Active Citizenship by the European Commission and is funded by the European Union. The project is implemented locally by Dutch organizations MasterPeace and Stichting art.1, in partnership with Open Mind Spectrum Albania (OMSA) and ACT for SOCIETY Center. This project aims to improve the environment for active citizenship and civic participation by providing civil society sector organizations (CSOs) with tools to grant-marginalized groups and side-lined voices in Albania with instruments to infiltrate the mainstream narrative and democratic dialogue at a local, Albanian and European level.
What is Website & User-friendly Mobile App
The duration of the artivism productions are related to the project implementation involving all rotating cycles and these productions are implemented by other CSOs supported .
– Applicants must have experience creating state-of-art website & maintenance of the page
– Ability to coordinate with sub granted partners and answer their requirements during project implementation
-Applicants must have experience in hosting interactive web pages & mobile applications, with experience to make online tools interactive and engaging for users to utilize.
– Constant updates of the website and mobile application with content about the project and different news, updates, and materials related to the project
– Ability to attract participants from the target group and potential activities, by creating online
communities that are engaging to the target group.
– Part of an interactive network of other CSOs that could be invited for training and activities during project implementation

The available budget for the website and mobile application sub-granting is of :

Eligible Applicants
The current Call for Proposals seeks to support applications that can be combined as a consortium of CSO and private ICT company OR a partnership between CSO and a private company, OR CSO that would provide mobile applications and website application as separated services from one to another and that are willing to engage as service providers to our target groups including hosted activities on advocacy, citizenship action as our main core of the project, working in the following thematic areas:

Open Call: Online Hub

What is Artivist Stafete ONLINE HUB?
The project will have both an online component as well as a physical component. Part of the latter, is the ONLINE HUB, a multi-disciplinary space in which participants of the training, CSO employees, and the general public can produce, disseminate and interact with the project’s creative, intellectual, and dissemination outputs and activities. As such, the ONLINE HUB space is essential to the project’s effective execution and successful completion.
The online space is projected as a meeting and mingling space for actors from the civil society sector, activists, artists, and the general public. All participating organizations connect through the online creative hub platform which enables them to share experiences, bond and work, equipping themselves in soft skill competencies through access to our toolkit with filmmaking and podcast features, as well as key editing software (Adobe Premiere for film, Audacity for podcast and Canva for Walls of Connection). Thus, all participating organizations engage in an online user-friendly platform that functions as both archive as well as forums for the project. The realized products (films, podcasts) will be also hosted on the platform, driving traffic to it from diverse dissemination tools. Also, the online hub is open for any individual, activists, artist or CSO in Albania who wishes to partake in it.
